Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry

The third and final venue of the Louvre/Dublin tour, with ten Vermeers among roughly seventy works in all. The selection matched the Dublin checklist; the Met's Allegory of the Catholic Faith and the Rijksmuseum's Milkmaid hung only at the Paris leg. Catalogue by Adriaan E. Waiboer (NGI), Blaise Ducos (Louvre), and Arthur K. Wheelock Jr. (NGA).
