The Frick Collection

New York, United States

The Frick Collection is an art museum in New York City, housed in the former Fifth Avenue mansion of the industrialist Henry Clay Frick. The Beaux-Arts residence was built in the 1910s, and following the deaths of Frick and his widow the house and its art were established as a public museum, which opened to visitors in 1935. It is known for displaying Old Master paintings alongside fine furniture, sculpture and decorative arts in domestic-scale rooms.

The collection is particularly rich in European painting and includes three works by Vermeer: Officer and Laughing Girl, Girl Interrupted in her Music and Mistress and Maid. Other holdings range across artists such as Bellini, Rembrandt, Goya and Whistler.
