The Victoria and Albert Museum, known as the V&A, is a museum of applied arts, decorative arts and design in the South Kensington area of London. Founded in 1852 in the wake of the Great Exhibition, it was later renamed after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It is one of the world's largest museums of decorative arts and design.
Its collections span thousands of years and many cultures, encompassing ceramics, glass, textiles, costume, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, sculpture, photography and more, drawn from across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
