Vancouver Art Gallery
Vancouver, Canada
The Vancouver Art Gallery is the largest art museum in Western Canada, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Established in 1931, it has since 1983 occupied the former provincial courthouse, a neoclassical building designed by the architect Francis Rattenbury, on Robson Square in the city centre.
Its permanent collection emphasises British Columbian and Canadian art, and it holds one of the most important collections of work by the painter Emily Carr. The gallery also presents historical and contemporary exhibitions, alongside extensive holdings of photography and works on paper.
