South African National Gallery

Cape Town, South Africa

The South African National Gallery is the national art museum of South Africa, situated in the Company's Garden in central Cape Town. It opened in its present building in 1930 and is today part of the Iziko Museums of South Africa.

Its collections range from historical European painting and sculpture to a growing body of South African and wider African art, including contemporary works, photography, sculpture and beadwork, reflecting the museum's shift toward representing the art of the region and the continent.
