Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art
Brisbane, Australia
The Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (together known as QAGOMA) is the state art museum of Queensland, Australia, located in the South Bank precinct of Brisbane along the Brisbane River. The original Queensland Art Gallery building opened in 1982 as part of the Queensland Cultural Centre, and the adjacent Gallery of Modern Art opened in 2006, becoming one of the largest galleries of modern and contemporary art in the country.
The institution's collection spans Australian, Indigenous Australian, and international art, with a particular strength in the art of Asia and the Pacific, reflected in its long-running Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art.
