Nationalmuseum
Stockholm, Sweden
The Nationalmuseum is Sweden's national museum of art and design, located on the Blasieholmen peninsula in central Stockholm. Its collection has roots in the royal holdings, and the museum traces its origins to the eighteenth century; its present building, designed by the German architect Friedrich August Stüler in a Renaissance Revival style, was completed in 1866.
The collection encompasses painting, sculpture, drawings and applied arts from the late medieval period to the early twentieth century, with notable holdings of Swedish and other European masters. The building reopened in 2018 following an extensive renovation.
