National Gallery – Alexandros Soutzos Museum

Athens, Greece

The National Gallery – Alexandros Soutzos Museum in Athens, Greece, is the country's principal museum of fine art, founded in 1900. It takes part of its name from the lawyer and art lover Alexandros Soutzos, whose bequest helped establish the institution.

Its collection focuses on Greek art from the post-Byzantine period to the present, alongside a body of Western European painting, including works by El Greco and other masters. The museum reopened in 2021 after an extensive renovation and expansion of its Athens building.
