Nasjonalmuseet

Oslo, Norway

The National Museum of Norway (Nasjonalmuseet) is the country's largest art museum, in Oslo. It was formed in 2003 through the merger of several institutions, including the National Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, bringing Norway's national collections of art, architecture, and design under one organisation.

In 2022 the museum opened a large new building beside Oslo's waterfront at Vestbanen, designed by the German firm Kleihues + Schuwerk. Its collection's best-known work is Edvard Munch's The Scream, alongside extensive holdings of Norwegian and international art.
