Museum de Fundatie, Kasteel het Nijenhuis

Heino, Netherlands

Museum de Fundatie is an art museum in the Dutch province of Overijssel, with two locations: a former courthouse in the city of Zwolle and the country estate Kasteel het Nijenhuis near Heino. Its collections grew out of the bequest of the collector Dirk Hannema and include art ranging from the late Middle Ages to the present day.

Among the works associated with the museum is Christ and the Adulteress, a forgery by Han van Meegeren that was once accepted as a Vermeer; it is connected to the museum through Hannema, who had championed van Meegeren's fakes as genuine Vermeers.
