Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is one of the principal art museums of the Netherlands, located in Rotterdam. It traces its origins to the bequest of the lawyer and collector Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans in the mid-nineteenth century, later greatly enlarged by the collection of Daniel George van Beuningen, whose name was joined to the museum's.
Its wide-ranging holdings span medieval and Old Master painting, modern and contemporary art, and design. The museum was at the centre of one of the most famous art frauds of the twentieth century when it acquired Christ at Emmaus, long celebrated as a Vermeer but later exposed as a forgery by Han van Meegeren.
