Musée Marmottan Monet
Paris, France
The Musée Marmottan Monet is an art museum in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. It occupies a former hunting lodge that became the home of the art historian Paul Marmottan, who bequeathed the building and his collection to the Académie des Beaux-Arts; it opened as a museum in 1934.
The museum holds the world's largest collection of works by Claude Monet, given chiefly by the artist's son Michel Monet, including the painting "Impression, Sunrise" that gave Impressionism its name. Its holdings also include other Impressionist paintings, First Empire furniture and a notable collection of illuminated manuscripts.
