Manchester, United Kingdom
Manchester Art Gallery is a publicly owned art museum in the centre of Manchester, England. Its principal building was designed by Charles Barry in a Greek Revival style and completed in 1835, originally for the Royal Manchester Institution; the gallery has been expanded several times, including a major extension that opened in 2002.
The collection is especially noted for its Victorian art, including a celebrated group of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, alongside British and European works, decorative art, and a costume collection. Admission is free, and the gallery is run by Manchester City Council.
