Louvre Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art and civilization museum on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It opened in 2017 under a thirty-year agreement with France that allows it to use the Louvre name and to borrow works from leading French museums. The building was designed by the architect Jean Nouvel and is celebrated for its vast latticework dome, which filters sunlight into a "rain of light" over the galleries.

Rather than organising its collection by region, the museum presents art and artefacts from many cultures and periods side by side, tracing shared themes across human history.
