Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art

Kyoto, Japan

The Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art is an art museum in Kyoto, Japan, located in the Okazaki cultural district. Opened in 1933, it is one of the oldest public art museums in the country, and its main building is noted for combining a Western-style structure with traditional Japanese roof forms.

The museum presents both its own holdings and large temporary exhibitions, with a particular emphasis on modern Japanese art. Following an extensive renovation, it reopened in 2020 under a naming-rights agreement as the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art.
