Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume

Paris, France

The Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume is an arts centre in Paris, France, housed in a building erected in 1861 in the Tuileries Gardens that originally held real-tennis (jeu de paume) courts. From 1922 it served as an exhibition space, and from 1947 it displayed the French national collection of Impressionist paintings until those works were transferred to the Musée d'Orsay in 1986.

After a renovation the building reopened as a venue for modern and contemporary art, and since 2004 it has been dedicated chiefly to photography and time-based media, presenting temporary exhibitions rather than a permanent collection.
