Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister

Kassel, Germany

The Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Kassel is the old masters picture gallery of the Hessian state art collections, housed at Schloss Wilhelmshöhe. Its holdings grew from the collections of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel, assembled above all in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The gallery is especially renowned for its Dutch and Flemish painting of the seventeenth century, including major works by Rembrandt, as well as German, Italian and Spanish masters. It forms part of the Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel, set within the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.
