Gemäldegalerie
Berlin, Germany
The Gemäldegalerie in Berlin holds one of the world's leading collections of European painting from the thirteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Part of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, it brings together masterpieces by German, Dutch, Flemish, Italian, French and Spanish masters. Since 1998 the collection has been displayed in a purpose-built gallery at the Kulturforum near Potsdamer Platz.
Its Dutch holdings include two paintings attributed to Johannes Vermeer, The Glass of Wine and Woman with a Pearl Necklace, alongside major works by Rembrandt, Frans Hals and other figures of the Dutch Golden Age.
