
The Fitzwilliam Museum

The Fitzwilliam Museum is the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge, established in 1816 under the bequest of Richard FitzWilliam, 7th Viscount FitzWilliam. Its Founder's Building, begun in 1837 by George Basevi and completed by C. R. Cockerell, stands on Trumpington Street.
The museum holds more than half a million objects, ranging from antiquities of Egypt, Greece and Rome to paintings by Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt and the Impressionists.
