The Detroit Institute of Arts is an art museum in Detroit, Michigan, founded in 1885 as the Detroit Museum of Art and renamed in 1919. Its Beaux-Arts building on Woodward Avenue, designed by Paul Philippe Cret, was dedicated in 1927.
The museum holds one of the largest art collections in the United States, with more than 65,000 works spanning ancient Egyptian and European art through to the present.
