
M. H. de Young Memorial Museum

The M. H. de Young Memorial Museum is a fine arts museum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, established in 1895. Its present building, designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron, opened in 2005 after the previous structure was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
The de Young holds collections of American art, along with textiles and art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas. Its European paintings were transferred to the affiliated Legion of Honor in 1972.
