Burlington Fine Arts Club
London, United Kingdom
The Burlington Fine Arts Club was a London gentlemen's club for collectors and amateurs of art, established in 1866 and dissolved in 1952. It grew out of the informal Fine Arts Club founded a decade earlier, and from 1869 occupied premises at 17 Savile Row, chosen for its proximity to the Mayfair art dealers.
Part of the clubhouse served as an exhibition space, where members mounted scholarly loan shows drawn from private collections. These displays played a notable part in the development of art history in Britain.
