Academie van Beeldende Kunsten
Rotterdam, Netherlands
The Academie van Beeldende Kunsten was the art academy of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Its origins lie in a drawing society founded in 1773, which became a formal academy in 1781, and it carried the name Academie van Beeldende Kunsten until 1998, when it was renamed the Willem de Kooning Academy after its alumnus, the painter Willem de Kooning.
Now part of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, it teaches media, art, design and education to more than 2,000 students across its programmes.
