Paintings from the Berlin Museums

Two Vermeers from the Berlin Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum — Young Woman with a Pearl Necklace and The Glass of Wine — were among the works rescued from the German salt mines after World War II and shown across the United States. The Metropolitan was the first stop of an extensive North American tour.
